On this Picostat.com statistics page, you will find information about the HearingTest data set which pertains to HearingTest. The HearingTest data set is found in the Stat2Data R package. Try to load the HearingTest data set in R by issuing the following command at the console data("HearingTest"). This may load the data into a variable called HearingTest. If R says the HearingTest data set is not found, you can try installing the package by issuing this command install.packages("Stat2Data") and then attempt to reload the data with library("Stat2Data") followed by data("HearingTest"). Perhaps strangley, if R gives you no output after entering a command, it means the command succeeded. If it succeeded you can see the data by typing HearingTest at the command-line which should display the entire dataset. If you need to download R, you can go to the R project website. You can download a CSV (comma separated values) version of the HearingTest R data set. The size of this file is about 1,044 bytes. HearingTestDescriptionHearingTest FormatA dataset with 96 observations on the following 3 variables.
DetailsAudiologists use standard lists of 50 words to test hearing; the words are calibrated, using subjects with normal hearing, to make all 50 words on the list equally hard to hear. The goal of the study described here was to see how four such lists, denoted by L1-L4 in this dataset, compared when played at low volume with a noisy background. The response is the percentage of words identified correctly. SourceData downloaded from DASL at http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/DASL/Datafiles/Hearing.html. ReferencesLoven, F.
