R Dataset / Package Stat2Data / RiverIron
On this Picostat.com statistics page, you will find information about the RiverIron data set which pertains to River Iron. The RiverIron data set is found in the Stat2Data R package. Try to load the RiverIron data set in R by issuing the following command at the console data("RiverIron"). This may load the data into a variable called RiverIron. If R says the RiverIron data set is not found, you can try installing the package by issuing this command install.packages("Stat2Data") and then attempt to reload the data with library("Stat2Data") followed by data("RiverIron"). Perhaps strangley, if R gives you no output after entering a command, it means the command succeeded. If it succeeded you can see the data by typing RiverIron at the command-line which should display the entire dataset.
If you need to download R, you can go to the R project website. You can download a CSV (comma separated values) version of the RiverIron R data set. The size of this file is about 443 bytes.
Amounts of iron in water samples of four rivers
A dataset with 12 observations on the following 4 variables.
Some geologists were interested in the water chemistry of rivers in upstate New York. They took water samples at three different locations in four rivers (Grasse, Oswegatchie, Raquette, and St. Regis). The sampling sites were chosen to investigate how the composition of the water changes as it flows from the source to the mouth of each river. The sampling sites were labeled as upstream, midstream, and downstream. This dataset contains the concentations of iron in the samples. The dataset RiverElements has similar concentration data for many other elements.
Thanks to Dr. Jeff Chiarenzelli of the St. Lawrence University Geology Department for the data.
