PICOSTAT
Precision in the data — statistics, sensors, and analytics guides, plus the calculators every data-driven mind needs.
Most statistics work starts the same way: a column of numbers and a question — what’s typical, how spread out is it, is this reading unusual, is this correlation real, is the sample big enough to trust? PicoStat is six free, browser-based calculators built to answer exactly those questions on the spot, using the same textbook formulas you’d use by hand (mean/median/mode, standard deviation and variance, z-scores, Cochran’s sample-size formula, Pearson correlation, and binary/decimal byte conversion) — nothing is uploaded, nothing needs an account, and every tool shows its formula so you can check the working instead of trusting a black box. Alongside the calculators sit plain-language guides on statistics and data analysis, an illustrated museum of the instruments and people behind measurement, and a Learn hub for going deeper on any one topic.
Statistics Tools & Calculators
The core of the site: six free, no-signup calculators that run entirely in your browser and show their formula on the page — summarise a data set, measure its spread, standardise a value, size a study, test a correlation, and convert data units.
Mean, Median & Mode Calculator
Paste any list of numbers to get the mean, median, mode, count, sum, minimum, maximum, and range at once — the core measures of central tendency and spread
Standard Deviation Calculator
Calculate variance and standard deviation for both the population and the sample, plus the mean — a fast read on how tightly your data clusters around its average
Z-Score Calculator
Convert a raw value into a standard score from the mean and standard deviation, and see the percentile it falls at under the standard normal distribution
Sample Size Calculator
Find how many responses your survey needs for a chosen confidence level and margin of error using Cochran's formula, with an optional finite-population correction
Correlation Calculator
Compute the Pearson correlation coefficient and R² between two paired data series, with a plain-language strength label — measure how strongly two variables move together
Data Size Converter
Convert between bytes, KB, MB, GB, and TB using binary (base-1024) units — a quick reference for file sizes, storage capacity, dataset volumes, and sensor logs
Measurement & Data Museum
Wander an immersive museum of the instruments and ideas that let us measure the world — precision sensors and scientific instruments alongside the pioneers of probability and statistics, the machines that gave rise to computing and data, and the charts and gauges that turn raw numbers into insight, each in its own gallery, so you can get to know the stories behind every great measurement: how each one came to be, what makes it matter, and the role it plays in how we understand data today.
