Digital Crop Survey : Govt targets to cover all states in Kharif 2025 stresses manual data verification

23 crore plots are created by combining 2 crore plots of the existing data to enhance the accuracy of the mapping process. 2 crore plots were available for the mapping process but this year’s crop sown area is estimated to be around 5.1 billion hectares. 5.1 billion hectares is approximately 2.5 times the size of the land under the existing data.

The Need for a Comprehensive Crop Sown Data

The Indian government has launched the Digital Agriculture Mission, a comprehensive initiative aimed at creating a single source of national crop sown data. This mission is crucial for the country’s agricultural sector, as it will provide a unified platform for farmers, policymakers, and researchers to access and analyze data on crop sown areas, yields, and other relevant metrics.

  • Improved crop planning and decision-making for farmers
  • Enhanced monitoring and evaluation of crop yields and productivity
  • Better decision-making by policymakers and researchers
  • Increased transparency and accountability in agricultural practices
  • Improved data-driven decision-making for agricultural development
  • Challenges and Limitations

While the Digital Agriculture Mission aims to create a comprehensive crop sown data, there are also challenges and limitations to consider. Some of the key challenges include:

  • Ensuring the credibility and accuracy of digital data
  • Addressing the issue of manual data collection and its impact on the environment
  • Ensuring that the digital data is accessible and usable by all stakeholders
  • Addressing the issue of data security and privacy
  • Allowing Manual Data Collection

The Digital Agriculture Mission also allows for manual data collection for the next few years.

The Indian government has been actively involved in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to provide affordable housing to the urban poor. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a flagship scheme of the government to provide affordable housing to the urban poor. The scheme aims to provide 2 crore 75 lakh homes to the urban poor by 2025. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has been successful in providing affordable housing to the urban poor in several states. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Rajasthan are the best performing states. Each of these states have completed over 90 per cent of their targeted plots in the Kharif season last year. The scheme has been implemented in 31 states and 7 union territories across the country.

Mechanisms for Ensuring Accuracy in Crop Monitoring

The Indian government has been working to enhance the accuracy of crop monitoring through various mechanisms.
